About James Blumberg

Twin Cities Area Criminal Defense Lawyer

James Blumberg is a criminal defense attorney who has more than a decade of experience defending the rights of men, women and juveniles facing criminal charges. Blumberg founded his Apple Valley firm in 2004, and he now represents clients throughout the Twin Cities region and surrounding counties.

James earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University before earning his juris doctor at Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul. Soon after, he began his career in the criminal justice field with the Dakota County Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Division.

As a former prosecutor, James is able to see a case from the other perspective. He understands how the prosecution works and what prosecutors will do to get a conviction. This experience on both sides of the law allows him to build a strong defense in each case and challenge evidence presented against his clients.

Now as a criminal defense lawyer, James serves as an advocate for those facing misdemeanor and felony offenses in the same county. He handles a plethora of charges, including DWI, drug crimes, marijuana offenses, domestic violence, violent crimes and more. James also helps clients on related issues, such as expungement and driver’s license suspensions.

When he is not representing clients, James uses his spare time remain up-to-date on legal issues. He is a member of several national, state and local legal organizations, including the Dakota County Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
